About KB1SO
My name is Ray Faucher and I have been a licensed ham radio operator since 1981. I currently hold an Amateur Extra class license and operate under the callsign KB1SO.
I’m active on all HF bands, primarily SSB and digital modes (FT8, FT4). I also enjoy experimenting with antennas, software-defined radio (SDR), and building high-power LDMOS amplifiers.

- Antenna design and modeling (EZNEC, 4NEC2)
- Custom software development for station automation
Software Development & Station Automation
When I’m not on the air, you’ll often find me writing code in my shack — the same space where all my radio gear is set up. I develop custom software tools using C#, C++ and Qt for monitoring and controlling my station hardware, including amplifiers, antenna switches, and environmental sensors.
I also enjoy building open-source applications that integrate with services like WSJT-X, NMEA2000, and the Mercury LUX amplifier, helping automate and optimize station performance.
QSL Information
I upload logs regularly to Logbook of the World (LoTW), eQSL, and QRZ. Paper QSLs are also welcome.
